Set across four cottages, Pine Cottages offers a six-bed residential setting, for men and women aged 18 up to 69 years, who have a learning disability or those with autism.

Nestled in the peaceful hamlet of Llangwyfan, just outside Llandyrnog, Pine Cottages offers high-quality residential accommodation for adults aged 18 to 69 with a learning disability or autism. Set in an area of outstanding natural beauty, our cottages provide a safe, supportive, and comfortable environment where residents can thrive.

Pine Cottages is designed to support individuals at various stages of independence. Whether you’re transitioning toward more independent living as part of a wider care pathway or require more tailored support on a 1:1 or 1:2 basis, our dedicated team ensures that care is shaped around each person’s unique needs and preferences.

Our small community is made up of four thoughtfully designed cottages:

  • Two, two-bed cottages, ideal for those who benefit from a shared-living environment.
  • Two, single-occupancy cottages, offering privacy and personal space for those who need it.

Each cottage features its own lounge, kitchen, and a private garden, creating a homely and relaxed atmosphere where residents can feel truly at ease. We actively encourage all residents to personalise their rooms and make their space their own.

The staff team at Pine Cottages, believe in promoting independence, dignity, and choice, helping each individual live life to the fullest, supported by a compassionate and professional team.

Residents are supported to maintain and develop essential life skills through tailored strategies that encourage independence, confidence, and personal growth.
Using tools such as Outcome Stars, the team tracks progress against personalised goals. This ensures that services deliver meaningful, measurable outcomes and provide good value by supporting long-term development. Staff receive ongoing tailored training to ensure they have the skills and knowledge needed to meet the diverse and changing needs of those they support.

There is a strong focus on compliance and quality assurance with audit systems in place to drive continuous improvement and embed excellence across all areas of care.

The team at Pine Cottages work in partnership with families, professionals, and community services to provide integrated, holistic support that responds to each individual’s needs.

As part of its commitment to inclusivity and cultural respect, Pine Cottages proudly delivers the Active Offer, providing services in the Welsh language where preferred. This approach enhances communication and community engagement, while celebrating the linguistic and cultural heritage of Wales.

At Pine Cottages, every individual is encouraged to have a personalised activity plan tailored to their unique interests, needs, and goals. These plans are designed to promote wellbeing, independence, and active participation in daily life.

Activity planning is underpinned by the Active Support Model, which focuses on enabling individuals to take part in meaningful, everyday activities as active participants. From cooking and gardening to managing personal routines, each activity is an opportunity to promote choice, engagement, and skill development.

In addition to their individual plans, residents also have access to an onsite activity centre, where they can take part in a wide range of social and recreational activities. This welcoming space supports community interaction, creativity, and fun, it fosters friendships and a sense of belonging.

Through these personalised and inclusive approaches, Pine Cottages ensures that each person is supported to live a life filled with purpose, connection, and opportunity.

Residents are supported to access a full range of primary healthcare services within the community, including GP visits, dental care, opticians, and other services.

Pine Cottages are set within 30 acres of outstanding natural beauty on the Highfield Park estate in Llandyrnog. On the park, there is a spacious activity hub where individuals can choose to take part in a variety of activities, including sport, arts, crafts, music, and other enriching experiences. Pine Cottages offers individuals the tranquillity of countryside living while being conveniently located near local amenities and areas of interest in North Wales and the North West of England.

Both regions provide access to a wide range of colleges, libraries, leisure centres, cinemas, cafés, and shopping facilities. One key local resource is HWB Denbigh, a centre that offers educational, employment, and wellbeing opportunities. HWB Denbigh features teaching rooms, a music studio, workshop space, IT suite, and a fully equipped teaching kitchen, and hosts a variety of activities including fitness classes. Denbigh also has a public library, small shops, and supermarkets.

Further afield, but easily accessible via one of MHC’s vehicles or public transport, are the historic market towns of Ruthin and Mold, the seaside town of Rhyl, the city of Chester, and the popular coastal resort of Llandudno, all set within the stunning North Wales countryside.

Sophie is registered with Social Care Wales. Throughout her career with MHC, Sophie has developed valuable insight and practical knowledge in the care and support of adults with learning disabilities and those on the autism spectrum.

She supports and leads her teams to help deliver exceptional care, particularly for those who present with a range of risk behaviours. Her compassionate leadership and hands-on approach ensure that high standards of person-centred care are consistently delivered.

She is committed to continuous improvement, both personally and professionally, and is passionate about creating a supportive and empowering environment for both residents and staff at Pine Cottages.
