Hospital Manager, John Bromfield has recently invited staff in the hospital and patient representatives, to join the ‘Star Wards’ working group.
‘Star Wards’ is patient focused and works in happy partnership with mental health wards nationally to improve everyone’s experiences and outcomes – patients, staff, family, friends and carers. To discover, celebrate, share, publicise and inspire excellence in in-patient care. The members use and adapt resources to stimulate and structure therapeutic and enjoyable daily programmes for in-patients in the full range of wards including rehab, learning disability and secure services.
The project will look at the 75 ideas, which forms the basis of the Star Wards project. These are just that – ideas. definitely not standards. The more creative the better! Wards have been very diplomatic about some of the ideas that they have used and staff can be as creative and innovative as they like!
The Hospital Manager is looking at getting as many staff and patients involved as possible to form this working group and become champions in their own services. This is the first stage of New Hall’s continuous development and will help make the way for other larger projects down the line.
Star Wards and Safe Wards have been discussed with Hospital Managers across all our hospital services ( St David’s and Newton House) to determine which model is best for their patient group and direction of each hospital.
