Dr Dean began working in psychiatry in 1999 after studying Medicine at the University of Dundee. He is a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and a member of several special interest groups.
He has much experience in both the NHS and private sector having worked across community and specialist hospital settings. He is familiar with specialist developmental diagnostic services as well as assessment, therapeutic and rehabilitation services. Although now an approved clinician, Anthony first became interested in intellectual disabilities whilst working as a support worker for a national children’s charity when he was a teenager.
He has previously worked as a responsible officer to ensure that doctors work within a managed environment, in which their performance, conduct and behaviour are all monitored against agreed national standards. He has an interest in clinical governance and the legal frameworks which facilitate and guide mental health care.
In his spare time, Anthony enjoys sports and is a fan of motorcycle racing.
